Hayden Currie grew up on a sheep farm in New Zealand before receiving his Bachelor of Design with honours from Massey University of Wellington. He now resides in San Francisco.

His work has appeared in numerous publications and has been shown in galleries in San Francisco and Wellington, including a mural in Clarion Alley.

He is also the curator of WORD, a 50-page book of wordless picture-stories, with contributions from seven other visual artists. He has taught comics-making at Wellington's Alpha Art Gallery and currently manages and instructs painting classes at Pinot's Palette.
